Susurrus by Auphorie is a Oriental Woody fragrance for women and men. This is a new fragrance. Susurrus was launched in 2025. Susurrus was created by Eugene Au and Emrys Au. The fragrance features Rain Notes, Chrysanthemum, Gardenia, Lotus Leaf, Blue Lotus, Ambergris, Jasmine, Incense, Rhubarb, Quince, Rose, Musk, Earthy Notes, Chinese Plum, Sandalwood, Resins, Iris, Moss, Chinese Tea, Green Plum, Patchouli, Butter and Orris. Susurrus attar, previously shared as a free gift as part of our 10th Anniversary Giveaway project. Shaped by the valuable feedback we received, Susurrus extrait represents the enhanced and perfected form of this scent composition. Infused with the elegance and classical aesthetics of the Song Dynasty, the name of this scent composition, Susurrus, is a poetic reinterpretation conceived to echo the Chinese poem Shēng Shēng Màn (聲聲慢), a masterpiece by the renowned Song-era poet Li Qingzhao. Known for its haunting melancholy and delicate lyricism, Shēng Shēng Màn evokes a mood of longing through her expressions of a series of varied susurrations. Susurrus extrait offers an imaginative olfactory meditation on the emotional and cultural atmosphere of the Song era. With delicate floral tones, finely wrought herbal accords, and a grounding meditative base, the composition captures the essence of introspection and poetic self-expression, like the gentle murmur of wind through silk curtains, or the fading echo of footsteps in a garden after rain. Susurrus extrait unites the imagery found in Li Qingzhao’s poetry with our own creative interpretation, articulated through a meticulously curated palette of fine raw materials. The composition opens with a luminous, almost sparkling note of dew-kissed chrysanthemum, capturing the freshness of petals steeped in morning mist. Exclusively in this extrait composition, we introduce three varieties of natural Chinese chrysanthemum extracts, namely “Hang Bai Ju”, the white chrysanthemum of Hangzhou; “Shen Nong Ju”, cultivated in the misty mountains of Shennongjia in Hubei; and “Jin Si Huang Ju”, a golden variety revered for its wonderful fragrance. Together, they create a three-dimensional chrysanthemum accord, weaving herbaceous, woody, and creamy nuances into a richer and more intricate olfactory experience. This ethereal opening is gently uplifted by crisp, delicate notes of fresh Chinese quince, green plum, and rhubarb. It gradually unfolds into a refined floral heart, where blue lotus, lotus leaf, Fuzhou jasmine, gardenia, Chinese plum blossom, and rose all bloom together in graceful harmony, complemented by Chinese tea which further enriches and harmonizes the bouquet. Meanwhile, imagery drawn directly from the poem, such as rainwater and Chinese parasol tree, are reimagined as olfactory motifs within the composition, painting an impression of a secluded Chinese garden in the midst of a gentle shower, its pond brimming with lotus and waterlilies, while the leaves of a Chinese parasol tree quiver softly under the falling droplets. The earthy, subtly bitter tones of garden soil, green moss, patchouli, orris butter and iris absolute temper the natural sweetness of the floral heart, introducing depth and an intriguing twist to the composition. Exclusively in this extrait composition, we introduce a classical Chinese incense accord featuring sandalwood, Qi-Nan, frankincense, resins, finely aged ambergris and musk. This is not the incense kindled by open flame, but the refined pallet form gently warmed over charcoal, releasing a pure, mesmerizing fragrance without smoke. Inspired by incense traditions of the Song Dynasty, this accord captures the delicate aroma of classical Chinese incense as it slowly breathes under gentle heat. In its entirety, Susurrus extrait stands as an olfactory homage to the aesthetic ideals of the Song Dynasty, where subtlety, details, refinement, and poetic resonance are held in high regard.Due to the nature and quality of the raw materials used, the scent will continue to age beautifully in the bottle with time when properly stored.
